⏮ Easter Sunday Rewind: March 31st

Hope (1 Peter 1:3-5)

Sermon Summary: The word "hope" has lost its meaning in modern usage, becoming synonymous with wishful thinking or uncertainty, but true hope is confident expectation. Christians have a living hope in the promise of salvation through Jesus, based on the historical truth of His resurrection and God's promises.

Treasure Seekers Lesson:

Jesus Lives (Luke 24)

Summary: On Friday Jesus died. So dark and sad. On Saturday his body lay in the tomb. Totally dark, sad, and silent. On Sunday, however, as the sun rose in the sky, the Son of God rose from the grave.

Gospel Connection: Jesus rose from the dead, just like the Old Testament said. “It was written,” Jesus said “that I should rise from the dead and that the good news that sins are forgiven should be preached to all the nations” (see 24:46–47).

Family Discipleship Time:

1) Take 5 minutes to read the Story (Story 83) in The Biggest Story Bible with your kids

2) Watch the Video

3) Discuss the Story

  • What are some surprising things about how Jesus came to earth to save us? Why do you think God’s ways are so different than our ways?
  • Did Jesus’s followers expect him to rise from the dead? How do you know they didn’t? Why should they have expected him to rise? How did Jesus explain to the two men why he had to die and rise?
  • When the women told the disciples that Jesus was alive, did they believe them? What convinced them?
  • Did Jesus only appear to a couple of people? Why did he appear to so many? Why was it important that so many people actually saw Jesus with their own eyes after he rose again?

4) Review the Treasure Card (Memory Verse): “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 CORINTHIANS 15:54–55

5) Pray Together

This Week's Announcements:

THE FOUR-ONE PROJECT: OVERHAUL — THE BOOK OF JAMES

Across the world Christians in persecuted countries gather for hours at a time to hear the Word of God taught. They don’t have the luxury we have to freely digest 45 minutes sermons Sunday after Sunday. Yet, in this long setting there is a blessing they experience that we miss out on. They grasp a fuller context of of Scripture by consuming it in one sitting. The Four*One Project is a discipleship event inspired by this experience. Together, we study 1 book of the Bible in 4 hours. Happening Saturday, April 20th, from 1 to 5pm at the Cascade View Retreat Center.
