Sermon Summary: Paul is going to give us three steps — three actions — we must all make to properly live for Christ on this earth. It’s summed up in three simple words: Wake, Wear and Walk. Each action builds on the other, and each action must continue in our lives in this order.
Summary: After Jacob did something that made his brother Esau very angry, his mother sent him to stay with their relative Laban for a while. While on his journey, Jacob had a fantastic dream about a ladder with angels going up and down, and God promised him many good things like land and lots of family. While living with Laban, Jacob became very rich and had many children and animals. One night, God came to Jacob in a mysterious way and even had a wrestling match with him. After that, Jacob was given a new name, Israel, to show that he was strong and brave. Jacob learned that God was always with him, no matter what challenges he faced.
Connection to Jesus: God's kindness is endless! Jacob played tricks on his dad and brother and had to run away from home without saying sorry. All alone and scared, he must have felt really lonely. But God, in His love, came to Jacob and gave him a big family and lots of animals. Through this family, Jesus would come, bringing blessings to everyone. Even though Jacob didn't deserve God's blessings, God still chose to be with him and fulfill His promises. Just like Jacob, we don't deserve the blessings Jesus offers us - forgiveness, a new heart, and the Holy Spirit. It's amazing that Jesus, our Savior, is always with us, just like God promised. Jesus traveled from heaven to earth to save us and be with us, showing us God's incredible love and care.
