Treasure Seekers Lesson:

Samson's Strength (Judges 13-16)

The Big Truth: True strength is more about faith than muscles.

Summary: Once a mighty hero, Samson was mocked by the Philistines at a party. He prayed to God for strength one last time and sacrificed himself to defeat his enemies by pushing apart two pillars, causing the house to collapse. Despite his flaws, Samson's strength and sacrifice made him a legendary hero in Israel.

Connection to Jesus: The Bible has many heroes like Moses, Joshua, and Samson, but Jesus is the ultimate superhero because of his perfect goodness and sacrificial love. Jesus, the Son of God, conquered sin, death, and the devil, rising again to defeat his enemies and show us the true example of faith, hope, and love.

Family Discipleship Time:

Take 5 minutes to read the Story (Story 22) in The Biggest Story Bible and Watch the Video with your kids

Discuss the Story.

Question: What amazing things was Samson able to do with God’s strength? Why did Samson lose his strength? When did he get it back and how? Where should we find our strength?

Takeaway: It is foolish to rely on our own strength—our true strength is in the Lord.

Question: What evil things did the Philistines do to Samson? How did God judge them for all the evil things they did?

Takeaway: God gives strength to defeat his enemies.

Question: Who are some of your heroes who love Jesus? What are they like? Are any of them perfect? Who is the one perfect superhero who saves us from our sins?

Takeaway: Jesus is the only superhero who can save us from our sins.__

Review the Treasure Card (Memory Verse):

O Lord God, please... strengthen me. (Judges 16:28)
