We cannot truly comprehend the magnitude of our God. All of who God is can only be known to Himself. His power. His majesty. His wisdom. His knowledge. His compassion. His righteousness. All of Him!
And while we can certainly know God according to His attributes and character, we will never be able to grasp the full breadth of His being. All of who God is simply cannot be measured. This is what theologians call the Transcendence of God.
God transcends us! He is far above and beyond our comprehension! Just as we understand the concept of infinity from the outside, in a sense, we cannot truly fathom infinity from the inside, in the actual sense. Infinity is beyond our measurements and beyond our ability to comprehend. And so, too, is comprehending the being of God. He is great in that He is infinite in all that He is, which makes Him unsearchable.
The beauty of this, however, is that God is not only transcendent, but God is also imminent, meaning He is near. God in His great mercies has chosen to reveal Himself to mankind. And while we cannot comprehend the depths of God, that does not mean that we cannot comprehend Him in what He has revealed about Himself.
God has revealed Himself through creation —
God has revealed Himself through His Word —
And most importantly, God has revealed Himself through Christ, for Jesus said:
Praise be to God, that while He is without measure in all of His goodness, He has chosen to let us gaze upon His goodness to the extent we are able.
But let us never think for a moment that we will ever be able to know just how good God really is, for God is far better than we will ever know! We will never be able to know just how loving God is, for God is far more loving than we will ever know. Plug in any attribute of God, and what you know is only the pinpointed tip of how infinite God is in that attribute. In this sense, David writes this psalm to praise God, recognizing that God's greatness is truly unsearchable.
Dear Beloved, even after time is forgotten and we have been with God for eons upon eons, discovering Him in all His majestic splendor and glory — even then! — God will still be far better than we will ever know.
Remember this — of all that you will ever know about God, He will always be infinitely better still!

Let us peer upon the madness of King Saul for a moment. Indeed, how he became a madman! He was overtaken by an egregious plague of the wicked heart. And because of this, he had but one aim: to destroy David.
