Moses was speaking to the next generation of Israelites — the generation whose parents rebelled against the LORD in entering the promise land. But now it was their turn to trust God for this same promise as He directed them back to the land of Canaan after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.
This generation’s entire life had been defined by wandering. They had never lived in a home. They had never possessed even a cubit of the soil they used. They knew nothing of what it was like to settle in and unpack. Everything was temporary and borrowed. They were, in every sense of the word, a nation of nomads.
But not for long! Their wanderings had the signature of the Almighty’s hand. He would fulfill His promises! Even so, Israel had already been blessed, provided for and protected in every step of the journey. They lacked nothing! Truly —it is better to wander with God by your side than to settle without His favor.
Perhaps the most comforting part of all is what the LORD says with the sympathetic heart of a father: “I know your trudging.” We often forget the LORD knows. He knows! He sees what you have been through. He has marked your heavy-footed steps, caught your every fall, and bottled up your every tear (see Psalm 56:8). Whatever miry clay you have trudged through in life's wanderings, even to this very moment, He knows.
Beloved, let us never be presumptuous to think that God is not aware of our needs or that He does not care. What folly! He knows our needs before we ever ask them, and He cares more than we could ever fathom (1 Peter 5:7). Do you trust God through your life’s wanderings? Do not be anxious, but cast all of your cares upon Him. He is good and will not allow your foot to slip (Read Luke 12:24-32).

The concept of faith has become a cliche in western culture. A once powerful river has been reduced to a shallow stream. Storytellers have capitalized on the word, using phrases like: “Just believe and all your dreams will come true.”
