Read Isaiah 2

“Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 2:3)

This chapter in the Book of Isaiah is one of great hope. It begins with the wonderful promise of a future where all nations will seek the LORD and desire to be taught by Him, who is Jesus Christ, the King of the earth. I cannot wait to see this day with my own eyes.

Like the dawning of a new morning, which brings newness with the rising of the sun, so will be this time for all nations of the earth. Christ, the Bright and Morning Star, will at last rule and reign from Jerusalem for a millennium over the earth (see Revelation 20:4-6). He will reign with perfect justice and rule with abounding grace over His people Israel, over His bride the church, and over all the saints in-between.

“The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, “Let us continue to go and pray before the LORD, And seek the LORD of hosts. I myself will go also.” Yes, many peoples and strong nations Shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, And to pray before the LORD.’” (Zechariah 8:21–22)

As we are imagining such a glorious time as this — which is coming as fast as lightning and is almost here! — we are reminded in Isaiah 2:3 of two wonderful truths.

First, we are reminded of the fact that our Lord Jesus is a marvelous teacher! All nations shall flow to Jerusalem to hear the words of His mouth and the instruction of His lips. People will travel across the world to hear of His judgments and listen to His precepts. This certainly was true of Christ at His first coming — how much more at His second coming!

In Christ’s earthly ministry, the locals thronged Him just to catch a word, but in His future reign it will be the nations that will crowd around His throne to hear Him preach. I wonder what sermons our Lord is already preparing in the heavens for those future days to come!

As much as we look forward to this latter day, let us not forget that we have our marvelous Teacher near us right now. Christ has delivered His Word to us for this life. And He desires to teach you glorious things even today.

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” (1 John 2:27)

Second, we are reminded of the power of Christ's Word. Isn't it amazing that the nations will come to Christ, not for money, or dominion, or political influence, but for one thing — the word of the LORD. The entire culture and economy of the earth will operate under the authority of Christ’s Word! Wow!

The world is currently under the sway of the wicked one and our culture doesn’t know their right hand from their left! But one day, by the power of Christ’s Word, all will desire to walk in His paths. Ah! — how often we underestimate the power of God's Word! It is indeed living and powerful and sharper than any two edged-sword! (see Hebrews 4:12)

If the Word will one day bring all the nations together under Christ, how much do you suppose we should treasure it today? Truly, there is nothing more special, more desirable and more powerful in all the earth than Christ's Word — even if our world doesn’t yet see it.

Therefore, in all your getting, get His Word and let it be the treasure of your heart today.

“More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19:10)

“The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of coins of gold and silver.” (Psalm 119:72)
