In the quiet humbleness of Nazareth, a declaration of majesty was made to Mary by the angel Gabriel. This declaration heralded the coming of a King whose reign would redefine greatness and establish an eternal kingdom.
The Son of God’s name is Jesus — Yeshua — meaning 'Salvation.’ This was not the name given Him by Mary. No, Mary was not allowed to name Him for He already had a name. Furthermore, nowhere in this announcement is this Child ever called Mary's son — or Mary's child. He would not be know as the Son of the Woman, Mary. He would be called Son of the Highest, the Son of God — JESUS.
This name encompasses the very essence of God's redemptive plan for humanity. This name, common yet exalted, encapsulates both His humanity and His deity. As Alfred Edersheim aptly put, "The deeper meaning of the name of Jesus was like an unopened bud, enclosed within the flower of His Passion, which only His future history would lay open."
As Paul said to the Galatians:
The angel Gabriel's message to Mary also included the majestic promise of an eternal kingdom. This Child was destined to inherit the throne of His father David, fulfilling the Davidic Covenant. This promise wasn't just for the people of Israel but a beacon of hope for all humanity, signaling the reign of a King whose justice, righteousness, and peace would know no end.
The fulfillment of this promise is twofold: First, in the humility of Christ’s first coming, marked by sacrifice and service. Second, in the future glory of His second coming, where He will reign as the King of Kings, fulfilling the ancient prophecies and bringing about a new era of divine rule.
Oh, Beloved, what can we do in light of these things but to acknowledge Jesus Christ’s Lordship over our lives? To call Jesus our King implies not just a recognition of His saving grace, but also a submission to His reign over us. It demands that we live in obedience to His Word, seeking to please Him in all aspects of our lives.
But it does not end there! In the light of His majesty and perfect rule, Jesus is worthy of our continual praise. His worthiness transcends our circumstances, inviting us to worship Him in spirit and truth, regardless of life's ebb and flow.
Yet, it does not even end there either, dear friends! As believers, we live in the hope of His second coming. This hope shapes our perspective, allowing us to see beyond the temporary structures of this world and to yearn for the establishment of His eternal kingdom.
In this season and always, let us embrace the majesty of Jesus. Let His name be exalted in our hearts, and His coming kingdom be the anchor of our hope and joy. May we live in anticipation and obedience, honoring our King in all we do.

This fourth chapter of Revelation is transcendent in every way. John — who was himself Jewish — had grown up reading the prophets of old, such as Ezekiel, Daniel and Isaiah, who themselves saw this heavenly vision (see Ezekiel 1:24-26...
