David was a man who understood what it meant to be outnumbered. He had an enemy lurking at every corner just waiting to catch him. Much of his youth and young adult life was experienced in exile because of another man’s pride and insecurity. He lived like a hunted animal which every predator desired for their trophy room. Many had their sights set on his downfall, and few had the bravery to stand by his side.
So how could such a man as David — the champion of Goliath and victor of the enemies of Israel — cope with being treated so unjustly as he lived in banishment? How could David ever hope to overcome his fear of the enemy and be restored to his proper place?
The answer to this is found in our verse. He committed himself into the hand of the Almighty God — the God of truth.
What made David a man of victory was his surrender to God. And what made David undefeated was his unwavering commitment to the LORD. No matter the situation, the odds or the despair, he fervently trusted in God for the outcome.
Where do you turn when you feel outnumbered? Who do you call upon when the enemy has the upper hand? What is your response when injustice has happened to you? The answer you give will determine your victory or defeat. If you turn to man, or call upon human wisdom, or retaliate in fleshly conduct then you will only find yourself living a defeated life — a life conquered by bitterness and self-loathing.
But if you commit yourself into the hand of the Almighty God — the Redeemer of your soul and the source of all Truth — you will find Christ’s victory over the enemy, God’s peace over anxiety, and the Holy Spirit’s truth over lies. Even when you’re reproached by evil, you will be renewed by God’s strength. And when you’re forgotten for your integrity, you will be vindicated by the Lord’s reward.
Afterall, are these not the very words which our Lord Jesus Christ shouted from the cross when He experienced despair and pain?
Thus, we have not only David, but our precious Lord, as an example!
Beloved, whatever reproaches or conflicts or trials you are experiencing presently, cry out to the Lord and commit the outcome to Him. He hears you, and He will be your vindication. May your prayer be as David’s —

The context of this chapter is really quite emphatic. We might expect to see such comforting words from God over a people who are mourning and helpless, when in fact these are words over an unfaithful people who were hardly contrite over...
