Read Psalm 25

“Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”
— Psalm 25:5

Truth. A word which is altogether losing its definition in our time. There has always been a battle for Truth, but in these final hours before Christ’s glorious appearing, it is especially tumultuous. Not only is Truth being suppressed by our godless world, it is being oppressed. No — even more than oppressed — it is being violently assaulted.

Our nation and our culture have deformed into subjectivity, and we are now described in the words of the prophet Jeremiah:

“This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the LORD their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth.” (Jeremiah 7:28)

Even more alarming, the church in our country is altogether going along with this charade! Subjectivity has crept into our love feasts and it is spreading like an aggressive cancer in our congregations. How can this be?

The Apostle Paul declares that we are —

The church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (1 Timothy 3:15)

If this is so, then we must take the prayer of David in Psalm 25 that much more seriously. In a world that is under the leadership of the wicked one (see 1 John 5:19), we must be under the leadership of the God of Truth. Our culture is leading the masses through the broad gate of destruction, and only our Mighty God can lead us through the narrow gate of Truth.

If we are to be such people as this, it requires two things which David clearly prays for: the desire to be led and the desire to be taught by Truth. Hear again David's words: “Lead me in Your truth and teach me…"

Dear saint, may I boldly ask, who is leading you? Does the culture have your love more than the Most High God? Does the bellowing of this world have your ear more than the still small voice of the Almighty? Admittedly — it is easy to let the world tickle our ears. It is so easy, in fact, that it requires almost no discipline at all to succumb to its lusts. We are bombarded with just about every demonic program under the sun to grab our attention.

But Truth does not come in this way. Truth is not playing games or trying to sell itself — nor does it stoop down to slummy schemes to win people’s affection. Truth stands on its own feet like a mighty warrior independently and valiantly to be found by those who seek it.

Beloved, are you seeking Truth? If you must, are you willing to wait all the day as David to hear from the God of Truth to be led and taught by Him?

But Christian — you have an even more sure promise, for you have already been given His Word of Truth. It is near you. All you must do is desire to be led by it. Rather, all you must do is desire to be led by Him — Jesus Christ — for He said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)

Therefore, Church of the Living God, let us stand on Truth today and make no compromise, but continue leaning into the bosom of our Savior, Jesus Christ the Truth, and be united with Him!

“Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.” (Psalm 86:11)

Jesus did not commit Himself to men because He knew what was in men’s hearts (see John 2:24). He was exclusively committed to preaching to the truth of God according to the Spirit. Because of this, Jesus never once walked in insecurity...
