The Scripture declares the Almighty God to be so pure that He cannot even bear to look upon sin. There is not a single deviation in His character, nor the slightest shadow in the brightness of His holiness (see Habakkuk 1:13; Psalm 5:4). He is sinless!
How could God even bear to look at us? He is pure, we impure. He is righteous, we unrighteous. He is perfect, we imperfect. He is holy, we unholy. Yet, because of our Lord Jesus Christ, God does indeed look upon us with His peace because Jesus paid it all.
Oh, to think of it! We — vile sinners — have peace with the righteous God!
And now having been declared righteous by Him there is nothing else to be done. Do not be mistaken. This is peace — real peace. This is not a cease fire. This is not a conditional treaty. This peace with God is written and sealed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. The war is over. You are reconciled to your Maker.
Beloved, this should both humble us to our knees in worship and raise us up to the heights of heaven in praise. Fear, shame and condemnation are behind you. Confidence, boldness and grace are before you. Peace with God can be forever the anthem of your soul.
